Good morning! After another night of crowing roosters and barking dogs, we're off on another adventure. This morning we're at the Adelante tutoring center, working with students on their English, and our Spanish! The Computer Room is packed (as Mario says it always is) with students doing research on the web and connecting with the world beyond their small mountain town. It is so uplifting to see them so dedicated to their education, and knowing that our efforts are making a difference.

This afternoon we're off to the city of Juticalpa to shop for school supplies. These pens, pencils, notebooks, and other materials and supplies are beyond the capacity of the small local schools to buy. We will create school "care packages" and deliver them to as many of the elementary schools in the outlying villages as we can.

On Thursday, the 1st delivery of medical supplies arrived, and they will be delivered to the local health clinics next week. Everything from antibiotics to aspirin, and most importantly vitamins for children and expecting mothers.

Yesterday, we started a new community garden in the village of Tierra Blanca. Digging post holes, setting the posts and putting up the chain link fence to keep the critters out. It is always amazing to me that cows, horses, and chickens roam free for the most part, often along the roads we travel.

Such a mix of new and old here...  like being in colonial New England in some ways, and in the new world in others. Despite the challenges, the people are, for the most part, joyful in their daily activities. Resilient problem-solvers who seem to overcome all obstacles in creative ways. As always, a true blessing to be here!
